Program & Skill: Rhinocero, AutoCAD, Adobe Design Suite
Project Overview
Canton City is historically one of the most prosperous cities in the world. It sits in the heart of Pearl River Delta adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau. Today, Canton is one of largest city in China has one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
For over 2000 years, human beings settle in Lychee Bay area. There have been imperial gardens for upper society and tourist attraction for ordinary people. It is the root of Cantonese culture and a window for others to learn about the history of Canton. It bears people’s and the city’s memories. However, after 1940s, the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization in Canton city brought intense pollution to the canal. Without many opportunities to participate in the city planning, the residents and users of this place are at a disadvantage beyond their control to the negative impacts of their living environment.
There is an educational opportunity at this site to provide information about the importance of clean waterways. My project aims not only to provide an enjoyable public space but also a responsive and evolving place that is inspiring for people to think about their living environment and learn how to make it better. This project serves as a baseline to generate community interest and excitement to work towards a clean water system.

Objectives Design
Urban water system combines freshwater, wastewater and storm water to run in a full circle. Lychee Bay Canal area is a link in the whole urban water system, and a link in the user’s experience to learn about the importance of clean waterways.
The design of new Lychee Bay will be the catalyst to start a chain reaction and bring all the possibilities to life. Lychee Bay community is a system that consists of the environment and the people. The design will act as the catalyst in generating the energy in the canal community and release them into the surrounding area.
